Wrestle-Off Guidelines
last update
3/28/08
Initial sign-ups
for wrestle offs will be posted for both leagues on the field house
bulletin board starting the first week of regular season practice.
Wrestle-offs will be conducted on a weekly basis starting with the first
practice as well as subsequent to league weight certifications.
Each weight class and each league will require a separate wrestle-off;
a wrestler may only wrestle-off for a single league and/or weight
class in a given week unless coaches discretion is exercised.
Sign-ups will be posted for each weight throughout the season until such
time that, based upon league By-laws:
A wrestler for a particular weight class has won sufficient
wrestle-off brackets (i.e. wrestler + challengers) or participated in
sufficient varsity league matches to qualify for a league tournament
(see
CJMWL or
NWJMWL By-laws, whichever applicable).
In the case where more than one wrestler is able to qualify for a league
tournament and is eligible in the same weight class, a final wrestle-off
will be conducted using full mats and score keeping equipment and two
referees. The challenger must win the best out of three wrestle-offs.
This should be completed as soon as the Head Coach is aware of the
conflict.
NOTES:
1. Sign-ups will be posted on the bulletin board in the HC Field House;
wrestlers must sign-up the day prior to a wrestle-off; late sign-ups
will be done at the discretion of the coaches.
2. League by-laws are contained in the information distributed at the
parents meeting or can be found on the Flemington Wrestling web-site.
3. No coaching or noise will be allowed during wrestle-offs.
4. Wrestle-offs will be conducted at the beginning of practice in the HC
wrestling room unless noted otherwise.
5. Pre-season tournaments will be on an invitational basis. No
wrestle-offs.
6. A wrestler who wins a wrestle-off is guaranteed a league match in the
particular league wrestled-off for; Coaches discretion will be exercised
as to when.
7.
This
policy is only applicable at the midget level; the novice and grade
school will conduct wrestle-offs at the coaches discretion.
